Welcome to the Rhythm & Radiance Youth Chorus!

In January, 2025 we launched the Rhythm & Radiance Kids Chorus and now we’re growing! Our new semester starts August 31, 2026 - we hope you’ll join us!

This year we are splitting our group into two - one for grades K-5 and one for grades 6-12.

Like the Queer Joy Chorus, this is a space for building community, finding joy in singing, and accepting all people. We chose our music together, and create an entire show based on youth suggestions. We learn about music-making together as well in a supportive, fun environment.

  • Making music in a chorus is about connecting with other people, having fun, and learning how to start with a mishmosh of strangers and end up with a piece of art.

    In order for anyone to really make music together, there are some basic things they need:

    • To feel welcome and safe

    • To have a voice in the creative process

    • To feel connected to the music they’re making

    Rhythm & Radiance Youth Chorus creates a space that feels joyful for the students involved. Youth will feel empowered not just by pushing themselves to try new things, but by using their creative voices to put together a show that they can feel proud to share.

    First (open) Rehearsal: Monday, August 31, 2026

    Sessions: 8/31, 9/14, 9/28, 10/5, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14, 12/21, 1/4, 1/11, 1/25

    Performance: 1/25 Winter concert performance plus likely additional opportunities to perform 

    Ages: 6+

    Experience/audition: None necessary - only requirement is the youth has to WANT to be there

  • Mara Levi is a dynamic musical leader, merging roles as an arranger, composer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and educator with a spirit deeply rooted in community-building. Serving as the director of the Pride Chorus for all of its five years, Mara has helped shape it into a beacon of inclusivity and musical excellence. With academic backgrounds in jazz composition, music education, and UX, they apply a multifaceted skill set to various creative and educational endeavors. Mara was a high school music teacher for the last 12 years, and was a touring singer-songwriter in the decade before that.

    Outside the chorus, Mara's days are filled with teaching voice and piano, UX Research, arranging music, building tree houses, and front-yard gardening.
