Queer Joy Chorus

The Queer Joy Chorus is about inclusion, community, and making beautiful music together. Anyone is welcome to join—no previous singing experience or audition necessary.

You may have heard about our main rules:
- Be NICE
- Sing whatever part you want
- NO injuries.
We take these things very seriously; we do not take ourselves very seriously. We’ve found that the combination of the love of music, the need for community, and the centering of joy over all else produces gorgeous music and even more beautiful friendships. Come see for yourself.

REGISTRATION FOR FALL 2026 will open in July. Our next session starts in August, 2026 and goes until January, 2027. Our open rehearsal will be late August from 7-9pm - it’s a chance for you to come see if the chorus is for you! Registration for open rehearsal is not required, but is helpful.

Rhythm and Radiance Kids Chorus

We’re in our third semester of this amazing, collaborative, joyful gathering of young humans to create music and art together! We have performed with the adult chorus, and also on our own, bringing music chosen (and choreographed) by kids as well as skits (written by kids), and the joy that comes from working hard at something and sharing a meaningful message.

Starting in Fall, 2027, we’ll be running two groups - a 1st-5th grade group and a 6th-12th grade group. If you or your kiddo are interested, please get in touch!

Affirming Voices

Affirming Voices is a gender-affirming voice training program for trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive people who want to explore and embody their authentic voice—whether speaking, singing, or both. This program honors the voice as a deeply personal and powerful part of identity, and takes place in a supportive group setting where participants can learn alongside one another, share experiences, and build confidence together. By working in community, participants are able to witness and support each other through both the social and physical experiences of voice exploration.

ROAR

ROAR is a program of the QJC, but is run independently by a brilliant team of organizers.

ROAR (Rainbow Organizing and Response) is a volunteer organization, committed to advocacy and support for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC individuals, communities and events.

We use creative strategies and the principles of non-engagement to provide a visible presence at public events, where we help create a welcoming and celebratory environment while shielding people from any hate present.

Sending Joy

Sending Joy is a year-round QJC program designed to uplift, connect, and affirm our community through handwritten postcards full of warmth, encouragement, and queer joy.

Whether you need a little brightness in your mailbox or want to help spread the love, Sending Joy is how we remind each other that we are not alone—and that joy is real, sacred, and shared. You can even sign up to have some joy sent to yourself or a loved one.

Chorus For a Day

Chorus-For-a-Day is a brand new offering from QJC aimed at bringing singing to MORE people, even if they can’t make regular Monday night rehearsals. Maybe you’re curious what it feels like to sing in a chorus; maybe you miss singing so much but you don’t have a ton of free time; maybe you just want to sing MORE, and you know this will be a blast!

Beginning summer, 2026 with pop-up chorus rehearsals in Groton, MA (July 12), and Northampton, MA (August 1), we’re hoping to do more of these - please register in advance if you’re interested at the link below!

With your help we can bring more queer joy programming to Western MA and beyond.
